About Us

Timberland Consultants (2001) is a Nelson-based resource management company that provides forest-related services in the fields of planning, technical engineering, GIS, silviculture, research and administration.

Timberland Consultants was established in Nelson, British Columbia in 1985.  The department managers formed a new ownership group and commenced business as Timberland Consultants (2001) in April of 2001.  The headquarters are in Nelson, in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia.  The company is comprised of full-time and seasonal staff.   Our project managers – professional foresters, forest technologists, and GIS analysts work interactively with clients on a wide variety of forestry and integrated resource management activities.

Experience

Our technical engineering division develops over 800,000m3 of timber each year in the Kootenay/Boundary Region of BC for industry, government, and private clients of all sizes. We provide services from pre-harvest planning to post-harvest treatment, and everything in between. Our staff are some of the most experienced in the area with tenures exceeding 10, 20 and even 35 years. Together we have completed projects all over BC and into Alberta and Alaska.

Education

Many of Timberland’s staff are BC Forest Professionals. We employ Registered Professional foresters (RPFs), foresters-in-training, and registered forest technologists (RFTs). We also employ trainee forest technologist (TFT), and several RPF/RFT-eligible staff. Our training includes EMS training, occupational first aid training, certification of timber cruisers and silviculture surveyors, updating of vegetation resource inventory skills, GIS application training, and continued operational training through industry networks.

Diverse Clientele

Timberland works with a broad sector of clients. We serve forest licensees large and small, private landowners, the mining sector, First Nations, utility companies, non-profit conservation organizations, and government agencies responsible for natural resources, forestry, economic development, and land management of all types.
